Most PVC assembled games are 10" to allow for a double ringer (wrapping around 2 rungs at the same time to accrue more points). If I recall correctly, you can't get a double ringer with the LadderGolf.com wooden set since they are set 13" apart and the ropes are shorter. To each their own. It's a personal choice.

My friends and I have an absolute blast playing this game. Best camping game ever! (Besides mountain golf-old golf clubs & wiffle balls) This site is great. Why pay $60+ when you can build one at a fraction of the price? Thank you for posting all the info I needed to entertain my friends & family for hours on end!!!

Couple questions. How does the scoring work and how long should the strings or bolos be if you have 10 inches between rungs. Thanks for your help, cant wait to play.

Scoring and string lengths can and do vary.
Many play top rung 3, middle 2, bottom 1, but then again some play vice versa. There are a few that even play the middle being 3, top 2 and bottom 1. The rules aren't set in stone, but if you check out the rules from the patented game Ladder Golf Game, then I would say those are the closest "by the book' rules out there.
As for the string length, most vary between 13-18" in between the balls. Use 3/16" nylon rope. The longer the string in between, the better chance that you'll get a double ringer (wrap around 2 rungs). This is impossible to do with the patented wooden ladder golf game due to their short strings, but you have a little more control it seems when the strings are shorter. So, length has its pros and cons. Hope this helps!

I am just curious about the stability of the game with using the 1/2 and 3/4 inch pvc. Is it sturdy enough when you are playing? Or is 1in pvc pipe the way to go?

It is very sturdy and works out very well due to the span of the base. It doesn't have to do with the PVC width, but the base width. If you desire greater stability, then just increase the base. The base though listed in the plans on this forum works out just fine.

Just found this picture for dimensions of the game called "Plumber Golf" using 1" PVC pipe. This is a thicker variation that the plans linked on the beginning of this thread, so I thought I would share. CLICK TO ENLARGE

Just wanted to say TY for this site. It has given me many ideas which I have used in building my ladder golf set. Everything is glued except the ends on the base and the upright bars. With jus a few pieces to change we can play many versions. Examples: 10" or 12" space rungs, spinner rungs or standard, with or without minus bars. We have had a blast this summer playing this game here in Ohio.

I am looking for plans to make the spinning version of ladder golf. I saw it camping in Stevens Point WI. It looked so fun. We have the regular one which my kids love but to put a spin on it would be awesome.

Hmmm, sounds like a variation of the normal ladder golf game. I'd really have to see a picture to see what you are exactly trying to describe. For the most part, there aren't currently any plans for that version, but since most games are made from PVC, all that you would have to do is take the plans found on this website and modify the cuts to accomodate your design. This is the best advice that I can give.

Has anyone used foam rubber balls instead of golf balls? I think this might be best for young children. We have not tried to drill through it and see how it holds up with the clothesline. Also, some say to use 3/16'' rope. Any experience with this? Anyone painted golf balls before? What is the best way if you have. We are going to make these in 6th grade business class and sell some as part of the experience of running your own business. Any thoughts are appreciated!! ?? Many thanks, Mary

Does anyone know what their cost was after completing the project?

The cost is usually around $15-$20 per PVC game set to make your own.

Mary,
Foam balls eh, hmmm, may not be heavy enough for flight. Rubber balls are the best if you want child safe bolos. Painting the balls can be easily done by getting some "Plastic" spray paint. This new technology allows one to spray paint plastics without having any chipping. Dangle the bolos over a stick or bar and spray paint them that way and put some tape over the rope so that you don't spray paint it too. 3/16ths" to 1/4th" nylon rope works the best. Better than shoe strings.

Thanks for the site.
What exactly does LadderGolf.com's patent cover - can they prevent others from making their own game, or selling their own creations, or even selling plans to make the game?
How can they own the concept?
Do they care that you provide plans here?
Thanks,
Mike.
