Many people don't realize that many 10-12 ounce duck cloths are starched when manufactured. That is why many bags feel stiff when brand spankin' new. As the fabric breaks in with play, the starch breaks down (and do does the corn) which will eventually cause the bag to become less stiff and sometimes very very floppy. How do you fix this? Well, one solution is to buy or make resin filled bags. The resin will not break down, so the weight and fill density will always remain the same. Next, when you get some duck cloth or some duck cloth bags, choose the ones that are the stiffest (or most starched). If you get some duck cloth or some bags that seem droopy or loose brand new, then that means either the duck cloth from that manufacturer was starched less when manufacturing OR your duck cloth is a lighter weight material (i.e. an 8 ounce duck cloth, which is less desireable and more apt to wear out).
