If you are building or buying cornhole boards, then MAKE SURE you have a cross board underneath the middle of your boards connecting from side to side if you have a 1/2" top board. The beam will minimize bounce greatly! I recently played on a set of Victory Tailgate boards that were bouncy and I looked under it and there was NO cross beam. This is a must folks. If you are buying a set, then ask if it doesn't say or show. It will save you a lot of cussing during the game.
If your boards have a larger top, persay and 3/4" top, then it is not required. However, most plans call for a 1/2" top, so this beam is a MUST! Trust me, I speak from A LOT of experience.
