We are very excited to introduce our new rental game called Giant Tic Tac Toe (Frisbee Style) for the St. Louis, Missouri rental market at St. Louis Game Rentals. Once easily assembled it is 6'x6' in size. This fun flying Frisbee tic tac toe game can be played indoors or outdoors for all age levels.
They sell games like these online made in China, but they are way too small. This, when assembled, is 6'x6' square, so a better improved size. The cheapos from China are only 4'x4' square and the tic tac toe plastic board breaks easily. This new design did cost me some money to make, since the 4 way brass connectors are very expensive and hard to find (@ ~$47 for 4), the carry case ~$27, the the 3 ten foot pex rods ~ $30, and the 10 custom frisbees @ ~ $40. So, about a $150 game design.
Here is where you get everything if you want to make this yourself:
1) If you want the 10 custom frisbees then you will need to buy that apart of the 4'x4' China kit at: Giant Tic Tac Toe Frisbee Game
2) If you want to improve this and make the larger 6x6' set like I show below, then you will need to go to Lowes and buy 3 ten foot 3/4" diameter Pex rods. One white, one red and one blue.
3) You will need to buy the custom 30x30" carry case to fit this game at: Carry Case for Giant Tic Tac Toe Don't worry that this is for a xmas tree. It works perfectly for this game and it is durable.
4) You will need to buy the 4 brass 5/8" 4-way connectors. These will be your most expensive parts. Make sure that you get the 5/8" size, since 3/4" will NOT fit in the 3/4" Pex piping rods. Get those at: 4-Way Brass Connectors
Cut each of the 10' pex rods into 2' sections. You will want to take 2 of the white pieces and 1 red and 1 blue and permanently makes them into a square. You do this with a pex crimp tool and some 3/4" pex crimp fittings. That way the square center piece of the board never comes apart. The rest of the pex you will cut into 2' sections and 4 of the red and 4 of the blue will just slip onto the 5/8" barbed 4-way union when you assemble. NOTE: Intially you will have to dry fit the 2' pex rods on and off of the 5/8" 4-way union multiple times until it shaves down a bit, otherwise it will be very very tight initially to assemble and disassemble.
The remaining 3 white rod pieces that you have you will affix together with a 3/4" brass Pex Tee that you can buy also at Lowes to make the 6' long throw line (which also doubles as a back drop for those that play indoors or on hard surfaces). Lowes DOES NOT sell the 4-way, just the Tee.
Giant Tic Tac Toe (Frisbee Style)
Game pieces:
5 blue “O” Frisbees, 5 red “X” Frisbees, 1 square frame, 4 red frame poles, 4 blue frame poles,
1 white 6ft. throw line pole, 1 carry case & 1 laminated instructions
Game set-up:
Push in the 4 red frame poles into the red side of the square frame, then push in the 4 blue frame poles into the blue side of the frame to make a giant 6’ square tic tac toe board (pound sign). Set up a throw line at either 5’, 10’ or 15’ for hard/smooth surfaces or 10’, 15’ or 20’ for grass/plush carpet surfaces per the below guidelines. Use the 6’ white throw line pole for the throw line unless it is being used per the below as a backdrop for hard/smooth surface play. In that case, make a throw line with either chalk or tape on the hard/smooth surface.
Hard top or smooth carpet surface play: 5’ throw line (easy or for little children), 10’ throw line (standard, recommended to use white 6’ pole throw line as back drop), 15’ throw line (challenging, required to use white 6’ pole throw line as back drop)
Grass or plush carpet surface play: 10’ throw line (easy or for little children), 15’ throw line (standard), 20’ throw line (challenging)
Game play rules:
Each player gets 5 of the same color Frisbees. Each player alternates throws from the throw line until either someone gets 3 in a row or all Frisbees have been thrown. The first Frisbee to land within a space gets that space and the other Frisbee is removed at the end of the throwing session. It may take multiple tries (rounds) to get all Frisbees to land within the tic tac toe space. If that is the case, then grab the Frisbees that land outside of the space after all have been thrown and return to the throw line and alternate again throwing of the Frisbees until someone either wins or all Frisbees have landed within the tic tac toe space.
