Eventhough an entire board didn't need to be created for this; this is a game that deserves a lot of attention due to its simplicity, history and monetary enjoyment. You may have remembered this from the playground (or perhaps at the pub, or even with some military buddies in the barracks).
Pitch and toss
A simple coin game, known by this name in England since at least the 18th century.
The Rules
Any number of players line up a fixed distance away from a wall. Each player takes a turn tossing a coins of equal denomination towards the wall. The objective is to toss the coins as close to the wall as possible. Some forms require the coin to hit the wall to be a valid throw.
In most variations, this is a gambling game, with the winner collecting all the losing players coins from the ground. Other Variations include the game ending in "tips", this is where the player who is closest the wall collects up all the coins and flicks them all in the air. The player would then shout "heads" or "tails" and the coins which land on the side he said would be theres. The remainder of the coins (if there is any) would go to the player who was second closest to the wall, this would go on until all the coins have been picked up.
Play it with pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, or if you have them, 1/2 dollars or dollar coins. Everyone has their own strategy. Kids, don't gamble! Adults, have fun!! ;D ;D
I recently taught my son this old game in our basement. He loved it!
