- The playing surface should be finish-sanded to a very smooth texture.
- There should be noblemishes in the wood surface that might disrupt or distort play.
- The playing surface can be painted with a high gloss latex paint or varnish.
- The surface should allow bags to slide when thrown, but not so slippery that bags slide back down the platform.
- NOTE: Satin or flat paints are usually not smooth enough to allow bags to slide.
